Dr. CK’s general approach to therapy utilizes an eclectic highly interactive insight + behavior change, model. This model, based on feminist constructs, utilizes principles of harm reduction to identify cognitive distortions, increase emotion regulation and help you increase your overall life satisfaction.
Therapy is most effective when there is a trusting, non-judgemental relationship between therapist and client. Having the “right fit” is a critical component to progress. We offer a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation to assist with this assessment, discuss the specifics of your case and hammer out the logistics of billing, scheduling.
Therapy is an at-will service. This means is no commitment to any specific number of sessions in advance. The length of time people spend in therapy and their frequency of visit vary person to person and usually change over time and circumstances. Sessions can be done on any interval necessary for optimum success and can be variable session to session, or on the same day/time.
Individual therapy is recommended in weekly or bi-weekly 50 minute sessions
Couples/Family therapy is recommended to be weekly or bi-weekly in 90-minute sessions
